What is one improvement you'd like to see made on Vic campus during your time as a Councillor?

One thing I would like to seen improved is the utilization of the buildings on Vic for more events and activities. I feel like the vic quad is used a lot to run activities, but we could also use old vic, isabel bader and other buildings around to run seminars, or fun activities.

One improvement I would like to see made on campus is the implementation of a digital suggestion and commenting platform. In my campaign posters, I emphasized the open door/email policy and having the voices of the Vic community heard. On the platform, students could provide valuable input in a wide variety of forms, from new propositions to criticisms and concerns. This input would be received and acknowledged by VUSAC and an appropriate response could be elicited.

One of the main things I'd like to implement is the 'culture fair', while a respectful environment is encouraged, I do not believe a truly integrated society can form without the citizens experiencing the different cultures available. A fair, for persons to share their cultural food, music, or traditions with each other would promote a safe, inclusive space, where we are able to encourage making connections between the variety of groups present at our college! Not to mention it would promote the alieviation of prejudice in our little society!

I've got to be honest here, I'm pretty ambitious about the work we will hopefully be able to complete. One thing I would personally like to see happen would be the abolition of Vic Dollars and the Vic Meal Plan. I would like to see those two replaced with a UofT-wide meal plan, and the usage of T-Bucks instead.

If I am correct, at this very moment, TBucks can be used at Neds, *on* the Vic Campus and yet Vic Dollars cannot be used *off* of the Vic Campus?? It doesn't make sense why we have our own system when the rest of the university has its own. I would like to at the very least explore the possibility of getting rid of Vic Dollars!!

Hey Shane! One thing I would like to see changed is the abolition of Vic Dollars and see them converted into TBucks. If the rest of the colleges can use TBucks instead of a college-only currency, why can't we? It may not be the most realistic idea, but it is certainly worth exploring as a member of VUSAC!!

I would like to see a weekly e-bulletin that is emailed out to all current Victoria College Union members (with an unsubscribe option) from the VUSAC. This would be an effective way to condense important information, VUSAC events of the week, options for student engagement, and important contacts.

It would allow students to have an email to reference which may be easier to navigate than social media and can be more effective and informative. Additionally, it provides a mode for VUSAC to maintain transparency with all Vickies on all things VUSAC including events, opportunities, policies, and plans!

One improvement I would like to on the Vic campus during my potential time as a Councillor is seeing more incentives for going green across campus. Whether it's starting a composting program to reduce waste, to having bottle returns on campus to reduce litter, there are several different ways that we can incenticize students to be more green on campus.

Here's how I would approach this improvement:

1. Increased Foot Patrols: I would advocate for an increase in the number of security personnel conducting foot patrols during late-night hours, especially in areas of the campus that are frequently used for evening classes or extracurricular activities. These patrols would serve as a visible deterrent to potential security threats and provide reassurance to students and staff working or studying late.

2. Awareness and Training: Promoting awareness of campus safety protocols and offering safety training programs to students and staff would be a priority. It's important for the campus community to know how to respond to emergencies and to take proactive steps to enhance their own safety.

3. Campus Escort Services: Additionally, I would advocate for the enhancement of campus escort services, where students can request a security guard to walk them safely to their destination during late hours given that the location is in a reasonable range. This service can provide an added layer of security and peace of mind.

4. Regular Assessments: Once these security measures are in place, I would push for regular assessments and audits to evaluate their effectiveness and make adjustments as needed.

One small but mighty change that could be made is expanding the availability of campus maps and direction guides. Although there are some arrows, and Google Maps can help, it is not a perfect solution. Particularly as first-year students, it can be daunting to feel lost (last week I found out the Burwash mail room is in a secret door in the archway!), and providing that little bit of extra help is one easy way to make campus feel less intimidating!
